Not from us: We provide help and/or advice regarding medical problems or explanations about medical conditions. Healthtap can also provide virtual primary medical care, should you wish to register. You need to find some one locally, who is convinced that you do in fact have food poisoning, to write such a note. Hope you are feeling better.

Your doc: Your pediatrician would be best to issue a sick note as having been involved in your care. An exam may be needed as well as such a note will need to be supported by objective evidence as well.

Could you get food poisoning from chips?

Unlikely but possabl: The dry and salty nature of most chips make them an unlikely source of food poisoning as germs are unlikely to survive for extended periods on this surface. However, the chip bowl may be tainted as well as the hands that put them out. The dip is a more likely source due to the moisture content and mix of nutrients germs love.

Yes: Not all bacteria, fungi or viruses are killed by ice. That is why when traveling abroad to countries with questionable sanitation, you are told not to drink the water or the ice, bottled or boiled water is the safe, potable form of plain water in those countries.
