Probably safe: Cefuroxime and other drugs in its class (cephalosporins) are chemically related to penicillin, but almost all penicillin-allergic patients can take them safely. However, check with your doctor if you had a truly life threatening penicillin allergy (e.g. anaphylactic shock, angioedema with trouble breaking, etc).
