Careful: Not all urinary symptoms are UTI and urine studies will be needed in order to get a better sense of the antibiotics needed to treat in case it proves to be a refractory infection. Taking random antibiotics may result in bacterial resistance. Stick with your doc, either primary care or Gyn.

Maybe resistant UTI: Need urinalysis plus urine culture if positive. Symptoms alone can mimic UTI hence need for urinalysis. Macrodantin is an excellent antibiotic for UTIs, but resistance is increasing all the time. Fortunately there are other antibiotics which are effective in suchcases.
