Extremely rare: CJD is extremely rare. Early symptoms include memory problems, behavioral changes, poor coordination, and visual disturbances. In a 13 yr old boy all other diagnoses should be excluded before consider this disorder unless there is evidence of transmission through eating an infected animal.

Challenging: Since this question comes from Egypt, and not the USA, infectious vectors will be different. I agree that CJD would be highly unlikely, but if the boy is ill, a spinal tap would be helpful in evaluating numerous conditions, and could directly test for prion infection. An EEG might show characteristic patterns. Hope this helps the differential diagnosis and leads to successful therapy.
