Not sure, and yes: By cjd i assume you mean creutzfeldt- jacob disease. Although brain biopsy is the "gold standard", it is often not used. The findings from eeg, mri, and spinal tap are enough to make a diagnosis in patients with the right symptoms. Yes, lymphoma in the brain, or a cancer elsewhere in the body causing a "paraneoplastic" syndrome, can cause the same symptoms. Ask if these have been ruled out.
