Reporting CJD diseas: Creutzfeldt-jakob disease (cjd) is a reportable disease is all 50 states when the diagnosis is made. The problem is that it is a very difficult diagnosis to make since it presents slowly and insidiously years after the exposure to infected food.

Yes: I assume yes because of the possible transmission of mad cow disease through contaminated food/ meat. Versus the old cjd.
