We need more info about the pain: location on the chest, anything makes it worse or less, frequency and any relationship with full or empty stomach, at night or daytime... Is antacid such as Maalox or Mylanta helpful? Any change in bowel habit?

If pain is localized and area is tender,most likely information of muscles, bone or cartilage. If pain increases. with lying down and gets better when sitting upright, drinking a glass of cold water makes it better, it can be acid reflux. Cutting back on spices, grease, wine or any alcohol, cheese and chocolate may help. Over the counter proton pump inhibitors work well. Please see a GI doctor.
