Menstrual pain ?'s: Symptoms as described may represent a form of endometriosis (adenomyosis) involving invasion of the uterine muscle by lining cells (endometrial cells) causing severe pain. Adenomyosis is treatable with oral bcp's, decreasing symptoms, but if symptoms are still severe, adenomyosis is justification for hysterectomy if childbearing is not a factor.
