Insulin dependent: Going without insulin for one day would cause a significant spike in your blood sugar but wouldn't necessarily put you in the dire situation of diabetic acidosis requiring hospitalization. Nevertheless you should call your MD immediately, tell him/her your current blood sugar &get instructions re how much insulin to take now &when to report the next blood sugar. Go to ER if you can't reach MD now
