What dose?: What is the milligram strength of the pills you took? Why are you taking prednisone? Your symptoms may not be related to the prednisone but, if you are short of breath, you need to seek emergency treatment to find out why you are having breathing difficulties and to treat it. If it is a reaction to the prednisone, that can be treated. Go to emergency room. Good luck to you!

Not those symptoms: You would not get shortness of breath with or without coughing from taking to high of a dose of prednisone. You may get upset stomach/nausea/epigastric irritation, but that's about it with to much prednisone. Why do you have steroids laying around that you can take too much, and what are they actually intended to be used for? Your breathing problems may just be anxiety-talk to your physician .
