A member asked:

Can i drink alcohol while on isentress and didivir? i last took them at 12 midday today. been on didivir since monday and only started isentress on tuesday. would i do myself any harm if i have alcohol now and take medication again at midday tomorrow?

Didivir side effects: The drug itself can cause dizziness as a side effect, so its combination with alcoholic beverages would not be prudent. I recommend that you go to your treating physician to clarify this and any other type of doubt regarding your treatment regimen.

Technically No: Isentress (Raltegravir) and Didivir (Emtricitabine and Tenofovir) are anti-viral drugs that specifically target HIV. Since you just started all three , stay aware of any serious side effects but there is no interaction between processes affected by alcohol and these drugs. There are lots of good reasons to temper one's alcohol use, but if you're used to drinking you wont notice any difference.
