Is pantoprazole safe to take for 6 to 8 weeks? will that be enough to heal erosions? i heard somethings about these drugs causing cancer, is this true?? should i worry? heartburn very bothersome! advice needed!?

Initial treatment: For most patients 8 weeks is the maximum initial dose which should result in healing for the majority of patients. Most serious side affects have been seen in patients taking the medication for more than a year or even longer. Work closely with your doctor and let them know of any new symptoms that develop. Also before you start make sure there are no conflicts with any other medications you take.
