Contact dermatitis: With chronic or recurring contact dermatitis which is quite itchy, the involved skin can thicken and dry out(lichenification). Treatment of these skin changes consist of moisturizers and prescription strength topical corticosteroid ointments. Of course you must avoid using or wearing whatever triggers the contact dermatitis. See your MD or dermatologist to get appropriate treatment.
