A member asked:

Does a stress echocardiogram detect if the heart is working harder than normal because of coronary artery disease?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Stress echo : This test use a dynamic imaging study that looks at the function of the heart when it is stressed by exercise or in some cases by a medicine given to increase the rate of the heart. It is a part of the evaluation for coronary artery disease and should be evaluated by a cardiologist who is also looking at other diagnostic methods to determine presence of cardiac disease.
