Basics: Such rashes are often just irritation from acidic stools but may also become yeast filled over time. Simple barrier creams like petroleum jelly or zinc oxide can help some, An antifungal cream may be needed if this does not improve things in a day or two. A doc visit is okay if convenient but likely unnecessary.

Gently clean skin: The diarrhea may change the pH of the stool and cause a skin burn. Frequent diaper changes, gently wash area with dove soap and air dry. Avoid dairy, add a probiotic for toddlers daily until well, and provide fluids, bananas and rice. If the skin is chafed a soothing diaper cream may help, but if the rash has lesions that are draining or spreading. please see your pediatrician right away.
