My 12 year old son has developed strange marks in the bend of his legs and on his feet (from the ankle to his toes). it looks like bruises under the skin. he was on cortisone for two weeks. it cleared somewhat, but hasn't gone. he doesn't feel sick?

Petechiae: Sounds like you are describing petechiae. These can be caused by illnesses which cause vasculitis, inflammation of blood vessels. At his age and not a lot of symptoms, would consider HSP (HenochSchonelinePurpura). Needs to see doc and have BP checked and urine checked to make sure kidneys not silently involved.
