COVID 19 testing: “The mean incubation period is 5 days. About 97% of the people who get infected & develop symptoms will do so within 11 to 12 days, & about 99% will within 14 days.” REF: https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2020/04/01/824903684/the-science-behind-a-14-day-quarantine-after-possible-covid-19-exposure. Many recommend 5 to 8 days after exposure if asymptomatic.

Test before visiting: Avoid close contact with grandparents, use social distancing and good handwashing. Have a negative screening test prior to the visit. Watch for any signs of infection and if these occur, please self isolate, monitor symptoms, and discuss the next steps with your Provider.

COVID-19 : Test five days after exposure and isolate immediately 14 days from exposure. With increased rates of infection in your community and/or personal circle, visiting senior family members should be considered a risk to their health. Recommendations for travel in your country should be sought.

COVID-19 Anxiety: On average, symptoms show up in the newly infected person about 5 days after contact. Today is December 16 which is 5 days after being exposed to COVID-1 in your niece. Even with 14day Incubation period, and without symptoms, you can be with grandparents on December 26. Please see your Physician for COVID-19 Testing for yourself and your son. Then follow your Physician’s Recommendations.
