My 8 year old son has a yellow stain and dry flaky skin on his palms and between his fingers. they arent itchy just dry. we using supiroban for two day now but no difference. is this a symptom of any underlying condition? should i worry?

Don't worry-yet.....: Two days is not long enough to treat the dry skin. You need to give it more like two weeks to two months before you can say treatment failed. You need lots of moisturizing ointment applied. Try to minimize use of hand sanitizers. and use hand washing with moisturizing soap instead. You can wrap hands in plastic wrap at night after applying moisturizing ointments to keep moisture in. Be patient!

Moisturizer: Use a baby eczema cream several times daily. Apply a thin layer of 1% hydrocortisone lotion twice daily. Avoid immersion in water, keep nails trim and watch for signs of infection such as crusting, oozing and redness. If this occurs, a topical or oral antibiotic is indicated.
