Paroxysmal disorder : A standard EEG will often miss sporadic epileptic events due to lack of temporal correlation. Ambulatory EEG’s at 72-96 hrs are far more precise and accurate.

Roughly 30%: STANDARD EEG (22 min.) x3 quoted as 70% sensitive. I usually order 1 routine EEG with full activations EVERY TIME). Negative? Do SLEEP DEPRIVED 60 min. EEG. Negative? Do 24-72hr. aEEG or REPEAT 60 min. prolonged study. Memo to patients- ALWAYS be ready to VIDEO with phones AND DOCUMENT (pen&paper) what happens during spells. If you'd like a TELECONSULT call Parma Neurology @440.842.3816. Cheers!
