A member asked:

Why do i have a few black colored floaters in my eye? no other symptoms. no pain/flashing lights etc. it just appeared one day after waking up. why are the floaters black and not clear like most floaters?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Vitreous gel changes: Usually small black floaters are not serious unless there is a problem with the vision, eye pain or history of eye injury or surgery , or if they increase suddenly, causing blurred vision , in which case they would need an eye evaluation. They may occur earlier in people with high myopia and are, caused by a shrinkage of the vitreous gel inside your eye .
