Vestibular symptom: Agree with excellent answer above. If symptoms do not improve with time, a neurologist can either confirm an inner ear problem, or look for alternative causes for ataxia such as nutritional deficiencies or drug effects.

It is possible....: Symptoms may have developed without an actual stroke. Ct and MRI can only detect changes (such as cerebral edema) that develop after actual neuronal death. Would discuss diagnosis of ataxia with a neurologist.
