?hematoma: The lump may be a hematoma(blood clot) caused by bleeding into the scrotum during hernia repair. Often there is associated discoloration of the scrotal skin. Sometimes these organized clots fibrose and don't dissolve. Your surgeon can advise you during a postoperative checkup.
