It depends: Your physician gave you an antibiotic, an antihistamine, and an anti-inflammatory for serous otitis (fluid in the middle ear) from infection, allergies, or virus. If you have pain or fever then you may have an infection that requires a different antibiotic. Otherwise just an antihistamine or NSAID alone (both are available over the counter) or together will help until it resolves in a few weeks.
