Can the radiologist see the esophagus in a ct w contrast of abdominal and pelvic cavity?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Abdominal ct: I believe that the esophagus will not be specifically imaged unless the ordering physician specifies that examination of the esophagus should also be included in the study. In the old fashioned upper gi series the radiologist would examine the esophagus behind the fluoroscope as the barium descends down to the stomach and duodenum. A radiologist can answer your question best, however.
