After possible exposure, how long should i wait to take a hsv1 and hsv2 test? will the results be accurate in 28 days? the last doctor did not answer we fully. essentially, is 28 days long enough to see if i have recently been infected with herpes?

HSV blood test: Risk is very low if partner didn't have a herpes outbreak at the time. The HSV blood tests aren't perfect. The HSV1 test misses 30% of infections, and HSV2 often gives false positive results. If you get genital or oral blisters, sores, sore throat, etc, get tested 3-4 weeks after symptoms start. Otherwise probably best not to be tested; or if you really need the reasurance, wait until 4 months.
