Palpitations: It depends on what kind of heart palpitations you are talking about. If it is regular heart rhythm but fast then the cause needs to be identified and treated accordingly. Most heart rate control medications have a bp lowering effect so it really depend on the individual situation. If related to thyroid, then that should be treated, anxiety related should be treated with anxiety meds and so on.

Increase fluids: Noten (atenolol) slows heart rate; it usually does not drop BP excessively. BP should be monitored sitting and standing to check ones fluid status. If BP falls below 100 systolic (the upper number) with standing, it's likely due to dehydration. Often, drinking a tall glass of water will result in a rise of BP; if the systolic is 100 or greater, usually lightheadedness is avoided. Keep hydrated.
