Bruised 2nd metacarpal 3 weeks ago. hand used alot this past week now the swelling is not going down after ice and wrapping. also my hand aches with random sharp pains. doc said no restrictions and come back at week 6 if not better. wait or go back?

Advantage: Your Physician has had the opportunity to examine you, which we do not have. Were x-rays obtained? As an Orthodontist my hands are extremely important to my ability to practice, and therefore I would be more aggressive about treatment. If you would like a 2nd opinion, see an Orthopedic Surgeon that treats primarily hand/wrist/arm problems.
