1000 iu/day: Congratulations! i am happy your pediatrician did not prescribe it as the prescription form, vit d2, may actually be hazardous! you want the otc d3. You can find drops that are 1000 iu/drop and 1 drop a day is the optimal dose. You may find better quality drops at your local health food store. Vitamin D: If you're breast-feeding or partially breast-feeding your baby, give your baby 400 international units (iu) of liquid vitamin d a day — starting in the first few days after birth. Continue giving your baby vitamin d until you wean your baby and he or she drinks 32 ounces (about 1 liter) a day of vitamin d-fortified formula.

Vitamin D: The current recommendation by the american academy of pediatrics is for 400iu of vitamin d daily which is typically 1ml of a multivitamin - if you ask any pharmacist for a recommendation he/she can help you.
