Discomfort vs awake?: It is not uncommon for 1 year old infants to wake at night, not always from discomfort but sometimes teething, sometimes looking for caregiver. If they are used to falling asleep by themselves without a pacifier, bottle, or being rocked at night, then they will often roll over and settle back down. If they fall asleep while nursing or being rocked, then when they wake, they need the same comfort.
