I was given 150 mg oral prednisone daily for 4 days then 80 for 2 days for hives.weight 122 lb.got side effects almost passed out ended up in er. since then having gi distress and severe heartburn. is this a really high dose ?

Yes: That is an unusually high dose of prednisone. Typical doses are in the range of 1 mg/kg, in your case about 50 mg for few days followed by a taper. In conditions that need higher doses a more potent steroid is used. Talk to your treating provider about your symptoms and further recommendations.
