Hi, i have petit mal seizures since age 7. my seizures happen in a way that my lips are shaking, i'm confused, can communicate but not in a rational way and my face turn red. taking lemictal medicine on a daily basis.how can avoid having the attack?

? petite mal: What you are describing do not sound like petite mal seizures. I'd see your neurologist and if haven't had an EEG in past year, get a new one. These sound more like complex partial seizures, and the medications are different for treating these. Also, consider seeing a specialty neurology clinic that deals just with epilepsy for a comprehensive evaluation and new treatment plan.

Other newer medications are available. See a neurologist ASAP. Currently, no driving, activities at heights, power equipment, swimming alone.
