Periods: Yes. It is not uncommon to have short episodes of break through bleeding when breastfeeding. If you are anxious about this a call to your obstetrician’s office is in order. This might be reassuring for you.

Can occur: Periods can occur during breastfeeding, although they are usually irregular. Being lighter than normal is also quite common. Be careful though, because you can ovulate while breastfeeding and can become pregnant (voice of personal experience as I conceived second child while nursing first and had never had period prior to conception). Practice birth control if don't want close interval pregnancies
