Possible infection.: Best approach is an otoscopic look in the ear. If infected but no perforation of the eardrum, a trial of ear drops with a solution of antibiotic and steroid (eg, Cortisporin otic solution) can be prescribed. A family doc, Ear, nose and throat specialist, or internist can help.
