Yeast infection: Hold off on having vaginal intercourse until your course of treatment is complete and you no longer have redness, itching or burning of vulva. It is not uncommon for it to take a couple of weeks or longer for healing to take place.

Pelvic or vulvar?: It depends on the kind of pain you're having. If it's vaginal or vulvar, it's likely that inflammation from the yeast infection hasn't cleared up yet. Give it another week or so, and re-contact the doctor treating you if it is continuing. If the pain is internal, i.e. pelvic or lower abdominal, it has nothing to do with yeast and you need to see a doctor right away. Good luck.

1st determine cause: Vaginal pain can be a complicated diagnosis. The first step to get a better understanding of when, where and how you feel pain. This is followed by a detailed careful physical exam. Then we can determine if the cause is infection, anatomical, nerve related, skin disorders, endometriosis, psychological, musculoskeletal or other causes.
