How long should you remain on laxatives after constipation has gotten better?

As long as it takes: If an immediate cause for constipation is not found and treated, lifestyle changes including physical activities, proper hydration and fiber rich food are to be in place. Laxatives should only be used chronically if a tendency to constipation remains and under the care of your doc.
