Depends: On what you ate asking. Surgery can be done anytime. It depends on if the surgery will be of any help to you. Removing a normally functioning gallbladder can cause a lot of digestion problems. If a gallbladder functions less than 30-35% with associated gb pains, then there may be a benefit of gallbladder surgery. But not all patients improve with surgery either.

Less than 35%: By convention most adult nuclear labs use above 35% as normal values. However these values are usually in conjunction with symptoms, biliary colic, that are consistent. There are individuals who can have normal gbef that have disease. These patients have biliary dyskinesia, a motility disorder, of gb. Some believe in hyperkinetic gb ejection fraction over 75% associated with symptoms.
