A member asked:

On back of right hand (dorsal?) at site of failed iv insertion several weeks ago, i have now a mostly painless, hard lump the size of a quarter. i'm worried. very slight tenderness at site exactly, the lump itself doesn't hurt. no fever or infection?

Leakage from iv site: It is very unlikely that this is dangerous or worrisome. Most likely there is fluid or inflammation from the IV under the skin. Alternatively some blood leaked out of the vein after the attempted iv. Could also be a little clot in the vein itself, which is not a dangerous type of blood clot. Likelihood of danger is very low. Most will eventually resolve. I hope this helps.
