A member asked:

My legs are very weak when i first get up every morning. it only lasts a few minutes after i start walking but when i first stand up sometimes one or both almost buckle underneath me. i have tried stretching in bed before i get up but no difference?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Muscle tone: If the leg weakness isn't present the rest of the time, I would attribute it to decreased muscle tone which occurs during sleep. To prevent falling, sit at the edge of the bed for a couple of minutes before getting out of bed. This also gives time to improve blood flow.. This is also important if you have to get up in the middle of the night. A neurologist can evaluate and advise you as needed.
