A member asked:

Recent d - dimer lab value is .27mcg/ml. is this high enough to suspect a malignancy. i have read that d- dimer is undetectable in healthy adults. i am very worried?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Need more info: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, what is reference range of the lab that did the test. D-dimer is not a test for malignancy.
