Pain under ribs: I agree that you should be examined by a physician & have appropriate testing.. I assume there has been no recent injury. If the pain is more in the chest, a pinched intercostal nerve or muscle, pleurisy or early pneumonia are possibilities. If the pain is high in the right upper abdomen, gall stones or inflamed gall bladder could be the cause. Flank and back pain could be from kidney stone.
