My throat around my adams apple is extremely sensitive and swollen. yesterday there was a mild discomfort but today there is a constant pain. whenever i swallow it feels like someone punched me in the throat?

Sore throat: The common cause of a sore throat is an infection caused by a virus or by strep. However, marked tenderness of the front of your neck could be due to inflammation of the thyroid gland and this is accompanied by release of thyroid hormone and swelling of the thyroid gland. This would warrant an examination by a physician ASAP. Otherwise drink fluids, gargle with warm salt water,call MD as needed.
