A member asked:

My 5 year old accidentally cut himself with a razor blade. the wound has stopped bleeding, however i am concerned about tetinus. would he need to take a tetinus shot?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe/not: Any break in the skin can allow tetanus spores to enter. A simple wound that is cleaned out well & not contaminated by soil is less likely to cause tetanus but it's possible. The vaccine is part of routine health visit practices for 4 to 5 yr old kids. If he got one recently he would not need another.
