Is a length of more than 1 cm normal for a lymph node? i have a palpable submandibular lymph node with a 0.4 cm diameter but a 1.1 cm length. i heard lymph nodes smaller than 1 cm in diameter are normal. what about the length? is 1.1 cm length normal?

Minor issue: Normal is a generality. I consider the 1.1 cm long node within the margins of normal. Nodes that are painful, enlarge above 2-3 cm for more than 4 wks, have color change in surrounding skin are in need of further investigation.
