I had hep c when i gave birth to my son. since then i've gotten rid of it through treatment. is it possible that i could've passed it on to my son? how likely is it that he contradicted it during pregnancy or birth?

Depends: If it was first acquired during the pregnancy it might pass to the fetus. Those who were infected months or years before the pregnancy have ~5% risk of passing it to baby when the last time I checked. His doc can do some antibody studies on the kids blood to see if it was passed to him. Most antibody studies are accurate after they are 18 mo old. Done too early mothers antibodies confuse the test.

HCV nucleic acid: If the baby is younger than Dr. F indicated, you doctor can test for Hep C nucleic acid. A nucleic acid is more definitive and should be done on the child. As you know, Hep C is treatable. Wish you and your son good health!
