A disruptive sleep pattern as described may be challenging to reverse, but a sleep hygiene program can help immensely. A virtual consult on site is available (www.connect@healthtap.com). Would try to avoid prescription sleeping pills due to risk of tolerance, and exacerbation of insomnia. Melatonin may help initially, and could be worth a try.

In addition to the excellent advice you've already received, try to avoid electronic screens of any type at least one hour prior to sleep. Also know that your brain may temporarily be on high alert since the surgery and will shift back. Long ago we lived like that when there were lions, and tigers, and bears. Peace and good health.
