dear dr my son 3yrs 11months has an eye infection that comes and goes. this is worrying because i dont know what is causing it. i no longer wash him with soap on his face but still. always the right eye has this problem. please advise?

Difficult to tell: The cause for a “red” eye can be extensive and thus requires a careful history and examination. The eye has limited responses which can include redness, light sensitivity, discharge, itching and discomfort. These symptoms can be caused by infections by bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
