PID diagnosis: By itself ultrasound rarely diagnoses PID, but it could confiirm suspected PID. In other words, if your doctor suspects PID because of your symptoms (low abdominal or pelvic pain, sometimes fever), pelvic exam (pelvic tenderness), and/or positive test for gonorrhea or chlamydia, ultrasound can help confirm whether or not you have it.
