Sure, happens often: Nobody knows the exact moment she ovulates, when an egg pops out of an ovarian follicle. That's ok, because sperm can be there earlier, just waiting for the egg to pop out; or sperm can be there later that day, swimming up to meet the egg. A normal person can ovulate and have sex, or have sex and ovulate; and then menstruate; recurring monthly if the egg is not fertilized or doesn't implant.
