Maybe not: If this is a "full blown" period with the characteristic amount of dark bleeding for the usual number of days, then it might be aberrationaly normal. In other words a one off alteration of a normal period. If the bleeding is bright red, amount is excessive, or the frequency remains at 18 days with the next menses, see your GYN MD for evaluation. Hyperthyroidism, for example, can increase frequency
