May be random: It's not entirely abnormal to have an irregular period here or there. Sometimes our hormones fluctuate in a way our body isn't used to and we end up with lighter, shorter, longer, or heavier periods. Sometimes if heavy or more painful periods continue it can be due to fibroids in the uterus as we age. If the pattern continues, see your doctor for an exam, tests and treatment options.
